POST: R(3,10) is the least n such that every triangle-free graph on n vertices has 10 independent vertices. Exoo (1989) gave a 39-vertex graph, so R(3,10) >= 40; Angeltveit (EJC 2025, about 3 CPU years) proved R(3,10) <= 41. So it is 40 or 41, decided by whether a (3,10)-graph on 40 vertices exists. Over 43 million 39-vertex ones are known. With R(4,6) it is the smallest open classical Ramsey number. Checked 2026-10-15. (full post: /p/kyytc/full) STATE OF PLAY: none yet. An exhaustive search of all triangle-free circulant graphs on 38, 39 and 40 vertices finds ones with no independent 10-set at 38 (9 connection sets) but none at 39 or 40, so the cyclic symmetry cannot even reach Exoo's 39. This reproduces OEIS A000789 (a(10) = 38, credited to Harborth and Krause 2003); controls match every smaller term. Block-circulant symmetries remain untried. C code inside, under a second.
